HARRIS HAPPY TO BE ON HOME GROUND
23 August 2005 - Honda Racing
Karl Harris is heading to Honda-Racing.co.uk’s home event at Cadwell Park with renewed enthusiasm and confidence.
The 25-year-old is feeling extremely positive about the progress that the team has made with the Dunlop/BLD-backed CBR1000RR Fireblade ahead of round ten of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship this weekend. Yorkshireman Harris took part in the recent official MCRCB test at the Lincolnshire track and recorded impressive times around the 2.18-mile circuit. He was consistently lapping within the top three fastest times in all sessions. It was also an opportunity to progress the development of the set-up of the Honda-Racing.co.uk machine, which is still in its debut season in the series. A top four finish for Harris at the last round of the championship at Silverstone was proof that the recent extra testing time has helped. Despite an early race one crash that stopped the first race, the Honda-Racing.co.uk rider was able to restart and secure his best finish (fourth) since Mondello Park in May. Cadwell Park is a circuit that holds fond memories for the Sheffield rider. He sealed the 2003 British Supersport Championship title at the Lincolnshire circuit and is always guaranteed a warm reception from Honda Racing’s local fans. Karl Harris: “I’m pretty happy with my results from Silverstone, considering how fortunate I was after the crash in the first race. I feel like we’re making progress and the Honda-Racing.co.uk CBR1000RR Fireblade’s getting better. “I am in a bit of pain from my crash, but I think that I’ll be okay at the weekend and the best is yet to come from me. Some of the final venues on the calendar are my favourite circuits, including the next two rounds at Cadwell Park and Oulton Park. I’m hoping to repeat my early season form and achieve another podium this weekend.”
