SPEEDWAY NEWS AND FIXTURES
22 August 2005 - British Speedway Promoters Association
EXETER ended a four-year drought of away Premier League wins as they took a 46-44 victory at Newport on Sunday.
The Falcons'' success was all the more remarkable as injuries meant they finished at the Hayley Stadium with just four riders. Promoter David Short said: ''We lost both Lee Smethills and Dan Giffard in the first five races but we still managed to win, which was a superb effort.'' BERWICK kept the pressure on at the top of the Premier League table by winning at Stoke, the Bandits'' fifth away win of the season. It leaves the Border club seven points clear of Rye House, who have four matches in hand. Berwick boss Peter Waite said: ''There''s a lot of hard work to go through, and I hope we can keep our heads and carry on in this vein.''
