MX3 PODIUM DOUBLE FOR KTM
21 August 2005 - KTM-Sportmotorcycles AG

The MX3 World Championship division of the Red Bull KTM Motocross team celebrated a double podium appearance today at Roggenburg for the ninth round of twelve in the 2005 series.

Julien Bill captured second overall while Sven Breugelmans was third.

The races took place in very wet and muddy conditions after rainfall began at the scenic venue Saturday afternoon and did not stop. With the KTMs well prepared the three riders had to deliberate over tyre choice to face the slippery mud-bath.

Reigning World Champion Yves Demaria took an early lead in the first moto but crashed after colliding with another rider and completed a steady comeback from virtually last on the first lap to finish thirteenth. Belgian Breugelmans was able to grab the runner-up position behind Martin Zerava after pulling through from sixth spot. Julien Bill was riding well and like his team-mate gained ground to end the moto fourth.

Demaria was keen for retribution in moto2 and accordingly hit the front and led the field to win by over twenty seconds. Bill was again setting a strong rhythm at his home Grand Prix and scored a top three finish behind the World Champ and eventual overall winner Zevara. Breugelmans found it difficult to recover from a mediocre start, when passing was especially tricky but made sure of his silverware with fifth spot. Demaria was fourth overall for a very positive outing for the team.

“Overall it was a very good GP with two riders on podium and importantly none of them picking up any injuries or suffering any problems,” said Team Manager Jacky Martens.

Breugelmans now leads the series by 60 points over Bill, Demaria is another 18 further behind in third.

The next Grand Prix takes place on September 4th at Schwanenstadt in Austria.
