SPEEDWAY NEWS AND FIXTURES
21 August 2005 - British Speedway Promoters Association
SOMERSET were crowned Premier League Fours Champions after a dramatic night''s racing at Workington on Saturday.
Rebels skipper Magnus Zetterstrom won the last heat to steer his team to a one-point win over the hosts, who had gone into the race one point clear themselves. It was Rye House''s Stuart Robson who crucially left the Comets'' Kauko Nieminen in third, with Exeter taking third spot in the overall standings. HULL have launched an urgent search for a new venue after failing to reach an agreement for 2006 with their Craven Park landlords. Vikings would have to double their yearly cost at their present home due to alterations required to the rugby pitch. Council spokesman Phil Webster said: ''If we can locate a site and Paul Hodder has the backers he says he has, I''m optimistic speedway will survive in Hull.''
