WANTED! – YOUNG PEOPLE FOR EDUCATIONAL EVENT AT NEC
01 July 2004 - Motor Cycle Industry Association Ltd
The Motor Cycle Industry Association is encouraging teachers and young people to register for Youth Day 2004.
The educational event takes place on Tuesday 9th November 2004 and will be held at the prestigious International Motorcycle and Scooter Show in the NEC, Birmingham. School pupils aged 14 to 17 years are invited to come and join in the fun with their teachers. Youth Day educates young people about the whole concept of road user education in the context of the automotive industry. The three themes of the event this year are • Safety • Education • Employment Liberty X, the well liked pop group, supported the occasion in 2002 and were on hand to present the ‘Outstanding Achievement Award’, which all young people who come to the day are welcome to apply for. The last event held in 2002 was attended by around 500 young people accompanied by teachers and other relevant staff. Feedback from people who attended and other research has demonstrated that there is a need to expand Youth Day. MCI now has 1,000 tickets on offer this year. Tickets cost £6.00 per young person and accompanying adults get in free. Jenny Luckman, MCI Youth Education Coordinator said, “ Youth Day aims to educate young people about road safety issues and enable them to become responsible citizens. “ it also informs them about the industry and possible career options such as engineering, design, manufacturing and even sales” Anyone who would like to book tickets or find out more about Youth Day or the Outstanding Achievement Award should contact Jenny Luckman on 02476 250 806 or email j.luckman@mcia.co.uk.
