SPEEDWAY NEWS AND FIXTURES
20 August 2005 - British Speedway Promoters Association
SCOTT Nicholls led the way with a full maximum as Coventry continued to gain ground on Poole with a 54-42 win over Arena-Essex.
The Brandon club are now just three points behind the second-placed Pirates with two matches in hand. Nicholls said: ''Arena played their tactical moves well but we all rode strongly and it was a good win. We really want to be in the top two.'' MILDENHALL have bolstered their Conference League squad by signing the experienced Paul Burnett on loan from Scunthorpe. The reigning title winners are on a good run but have been concerned by their lack of options should they hit trouble. Boss Mick Horton said: ''After discussing the situation with captain Jon Armstrong, we think that if called upon Paul will do a steady job for us.''
