KTM ANNOUNCE MX1 TORTELLI COUP FOR 2006
19 August 2005 - KTM-Sportmotorcycles AG
The factory Red Bull KTM team have signed former World Champion and one of the top riders in the AMA series, Sebastien Tortelli, to front their MX1 Motocross campaign in 2006.
The manufacturer agreed and confirmed terms with the 27 year old Frenchman this week and the ex 125 and 250cc ace has inked a deal to ride with the works outfit for two years, retaining an option to move back to the US in 2007. “We had been tracking Sebastien for some time and the fact that we have bought a former World Champion back to the Grand Prix from the US is wonderful news for our fans and supporters,” commented Team Manager Toby Gustafson. “It also shows how badly we want to win in MX1. It is true that he has had some bad luck with injury over the last few seasons but these have been mostly induced by Supercross and his ability and speed is beyond doubt. We lost Ben Townley to America this year but this news goes some way to softening his departure for both KTM and all fans of Grand Prix racing.” Tortelli will line-up alongside Marc de Reuver in the premier class.
