SPEEDWAY NEWS AND FIXTURES
19 August 2005 - British Speedway Promoters Association
WORKNGTON boss Graham Drury has made a team change by signing Tomasz Piszcz to replace Aidan Collins.
And the Pole could make his debut in Saturday''s Premier League Fours at Derwent Park as the Comets currently have an injury crisis. Drury said: ''Shaun Tacey, Kauko Nieminen and Scott Robson will all need fitness tests so Tomasz might have to give it a go as we could be struggling.'' OXFORD pulled off a stunning win over Poole on Thursday thanks to a last-heat 5-1 from Billy Hamill and Niels-Kristian Iversen. The Silver Machine secured their first victory since June despite being without the unwell Greg Hancock, who pulled out at luncthime. Boss Nigel Wagstaff said: ''I can''t praise my side''s efforts enough, the bonus point would have put the icing on the cake, but a win is a win.'' COVENTRY''S Australian youngster Rory Schlein has been ruled out until December following a visit to his specialist concerning his back injury. Schlein has been out since late May but recently practiced at Brandon and had hoped to return for the closing stages of the season. Boss Colin Pratt said: ''Rory has accepted the specialist''s decision, but he is in our plans for next season.'' PETERBOROUGH have announced a deal with their landlords at the East of England Showground for regular Thursday racing next year. The Panthers will also have Bank Holiday dates available next season for matches against fellow Thursday night clubs. Owner Colin Horton said: ''This reflects what an excellent relationship the Showground management have forged with the club. I want to thank them for how supportive they have been.''
