WOLVERHAMPTON SPEEDWAY
18 August 2005 - British Speedway Promoters Association

Elite League: Ipswich 51 Wolverhampton 44

PARRYS International Wolves were hit by a last-heat 5-1 at Foxhall which saw them miss out on both match and bonus points. Ipswich went into Heat 15 with a 46-43 lead, one behind on aggregate, after Wolves had taken an 8-1 in Heat 13 - but Chris Louis and Hans Andersen made it from the start ahead of Wolves top scorers Fredrik Lindgren and Steve Johnston. The visitors made an encouraging start, a 4-2 in Heat 2 from their reserves giving them an advantage they held until the sixth race with Magnus Karlsson and Johnston both winning heats. Johnston, in fact, showed a welcome return to form as he won his first two outings, but the Witches went in front with a 5-1 in Heat 6. Ipswich had five consecutive race winners from Heat 8 as they went ten points up - but Wolves hit back when Lindgren won Heat 13 for double points with guest Mark Loram second to slash the deficit to three. Then Ronnie Correy popped out of the start and won the penultimate race to give Wolves a chance of snatching the match, let alone the bonus point - but the Witches duo gated in the last heat to take a 5-1 and end those aspirations.

IPSWICH: Hans Andersen 10+1, Chris Louis 10+1, Robert Miskowiak 8+1, George Stancl 8+1, Piotr Protasiewicz 8, Kim Jansson 7+1, Daniel King 0.

WOLVES: Fredrik Lindgren 12+1, Steve Johnston 12, Mark Loram 7+1, Ronnie Correy 5+1, Krzysztof Pecyna 4+1, Magnus Karlsson 3, David Howe 1.
