SPEEDWAY NEWS AND FIXTURES
16 August 2005 - British Speedway Promoters Association

POOLE went down to a shock home defeat by Peterborough on Monday in a meeting which finished in controversy.

The Pirates have protested about the carburettor size of Peterborough''s Jesper B Jensen, which will now go to the SCB for investigation. Former Pirate Lukas Dryml scored heavily against his old club with 14 points at reserve as Poole lost their near-14 month unbeaten home record.

NEWCASTLE have signed Sheffield asset James Birkinshaw to replace Christian Henry, whose season is over due to thigh and coccyx damage. Ironically, Birkinshaw will make his Diamonds debut at Sheffield on Thursday, and is a track specialist at Owlerton. Sheffield boss Neil Machin said: ''We have never been in the business of leaving our own assets on the shelf although we know it makes Newcastle look stronger at our place.''

NEWCASTLE supporters are holding a fund-rasing event for injured Australian Christian Henry on Wednesday evening. Henry sustained a severely gashed upper thigh and damage to his coccyx in an horrific crash at Brough Park on Sunday in the Diamonds'' match with Somerset. The event takes place at the Newton Park Pub on Benton Road and will include a video race night, raffle and mini-auction, starting at 7.30pm.
