HARRIS BACK ON FORM
18 August 2005 - Honda Racing
The recent break in the 2005 Bennetts British Superbike Championship was a welcome one for Honda-Racing.co.uk’s Karl Harris.
Following a promising start to the team’s debut in the world’s leading domestic Superbike championship, the 25-year-old has suffered a run of bad luck. Since round five, he has been battling injury and problems with the set-up of the CBR1000RR Fireblade. However, the determined Yorkshireman has used the five-week reprieve from the championship to take part in further testing. Harris participated in Silverstone and Cadwell Park’s MCRCB British Superbike tests in order to prepare for the next two rounds of the series. He also competed at the Superbike Grand National non-championship event at Castle Combe – and finished second in both races. These have been vital in boosting the Sheffield rider’s confidence and he returns to the series this weekend in fighting spirit. With a double podium finish at Oulton Park earlier this year, Harris has already proved that he can be a frontrunner. He is determined to push hard over the final five rounds for a position inside the top five of the series overall. Karl Harris: “I’m looking forward to getting back on track at Silverstone this weekend. I have struggled to reach my full potential so far this season and that’s what I’ll be aiming to do over the final five rounds. “I know that I am capable of a podium finish – I proved that at Oulton Park. We have done a lot of development work with the Honda-Racing.co.uk CBR1000RR Fireblade since though, so I am going to be pushing for top three positions this weekend.”
