WOLVERHAMPTON SPEEDWAY
12 August 2005 - British Speedway Promoters Association

Elite League: EASTBOURNE 49 WOLVES 41

WOLVERHAMPTON took the bonus point from Arlington after a dramatic finish to an incident-packed meeting. Eastbourne''s eight-point win was the exact reverse of the result at Monmore Green last month, leading to a run-off for the aggregate bonus point - which went Wolves'' way when guests Peter Karlsson (Wolves) and Mark Loram tangled, with Loram deemed to be at fault. Karlsson was leading the Wolves charge as he replaced brother Mikael Max, but when he finished behind Loram and Chris Harris in Heat 13, the aggregate scores were level. Manager Peter Adams nominated Karlsson for a tactical substitute ride in Heat 14 for double points off the 15 metre handicap, and although Davey Watt won the race Karlsson came home in second place after David Howe eased up - only for the Swede to be excluded by referee Barry Richardson for not wearing the black-and-white helmet colour required to signify a double points ride! So Eastbourne went in front on aggregate for the first time, but the run-off was secured by Karlsson''s win in Heat 15 and a battling ride by Fredrik Lindgren to make it past Harris in the closing stages.

EASTBOURNE: Mark Loram 16, Chris Harris 12+2, Davey Watt 10+3, Dean Barker 8+1, Andrew Moore 3, Steen Jensen 0, rider replacement for David Norris.

WOLVERHAMPTON: Peter Karlsson 13, Ronnie Correy 6+2, Fredrik Lindgren 6, Steve Johnston 5+1, David Howe 5, Krzysztof Pecyna 4, Magnus Karlsson 2.
