SWINDON will have two representatives on their own track at the Elite League Riders'' Championship.

The showpiece event, which includes a world class field, takes place at the Abbey Stadium on Sunday, August 28 with Lee Richardson and Charlie Gjedde the home favourites. Robins boss Alun Rossiter said: ''I expect a thrilling meeting with any of the 16 competitors capable of winning such a prestigious title.''

WORKINGTON boss Graham Drury is backing his injury-hit team to challenge for the Premier League Fours title next weekend. The Comets host the event without inspirational skipper Carl Stonehewer who is out for the season with arm injuries. Drury said: ''We have to be positive for this big event and we need the backing of all our supporters to achieve something special against the odds next Saturday.''

READING boss Tim Sugar believes his side are ready to kick-start their season after the return of Danny Bird from injury. Bird, one of the Premier League''s top performers, has made a successful comeback from a broken leg. Boss Tim Sugar said: ''We''re a different team with Danny back in the side, so hopefully we can now start to pick up some points - starting with Hull on Monday.''
