BIKESURE 4 HARLEY
14 August 2005 - Bikesure

Harley Davidson: two words that make most insurance companies reach for the aspirin. But not Bikesure. The company loves insuring Harleys.

So much so that it has launched a new, improved scheme just for Harley owners that''s designed to make life easier and insurance cheaper.

Bikesure is the division of the Adrian Flux Insurance Group specialising in bikes, trikes and quads.

''The policy features everything you''d expect from standard bike insurance, but with Harley-specific extras,'' says Robert Balls of Bikesure. ''It''s also very competitive: we''ve used our expertise in the market to work in partnership with our underwriters to develop the scheme. Consequently they''ve given us what we believe are the lowest Harley rates on the market.''

Apart from the pricing, the scheme''s most distinctive feature is the selection of Harley extras included as standard. For example, Bikesure will offer agreed value on your hog. The company is not alone in this, but what does make it different is that the value can be up to £32,500 - way more than other insurers.

A major pain for Harley owners is that most insurers insist on Thatcham alarms. Bikesure''s new scheme doesn''t: the company is happy to accept machines fitted with Harley Davidson factory-fitted security products.

Then there''s the issue of custom builds. If you''ve got the individuality to drive a Harley you may well want to modify it to your own specs. Most insurers don''t like customised bikes, but Bikesure''s ''freethinking insurance'' welcomes them. For many cosmetic mods Bikesure''s Harley policy makes no extra charge at all, and the company has a mellow attitude even when it comes to discussing power enhancements.

As for pricing, Robert Balls reckons the Bikesure Harley scheme can save up to 30% compared to standard rates on the market - and that''s before you take into account the added cost of fitting a Thatcham alarm, which most other insurers will insist on.

Bikesure has a huge range of specialist policies for the motorcycle enthusiast, including schemes for trikes and quads.
