Honda’s latest scooter – the Zoomer – is now available to buy in the UK, but you will have to hurry as stocks of this hip and zippy little 50cc scooter are in very short supply.

The Zoomer has been making a big hit in Japan and the United States over the last year and now the funky two-wheeler is making its presence felt in Europe, too. The basis of the success of the Zoomer is its ultra-cool, minimalist urban styling which provides a base for a very individual machine thanks to a wide range of accessories that is available.

At the heart of the Zoomer is the liquid-cooled, four-valve, four-stroke single-cylinder motor which benefits from the latest PGM-FI (Programmed Fuel-Injection) system. This is the first time a small-capacity motor has been given this advanced fuelling system.

The eye-catching ultra-fat tyres, compliant suspension and excellent brakes mean it can make short work of any journey across town. It’s comfortable too, thanks to a plush, contoured seat. Meanwhile its bare-bones approach to chassis design means there’s plenty of space for anything you need to carry in the under-seat pan.

But it’s the looks and attitude of the Zoomer that are winning over an army of fans. The fat tyres, the bug-eye headlights, the raw chassis and the minimalist design signals this machine as something very different. Making the Zoomer unique to its owner are a wide range of optional ‘hop-up’ parts, including radiator covers, a rear carrier and racing footrests. Many parts are colour matched to the Zoomer’s available colour options of red, black, yellow and green.

Honda (UK) has also bought into the Zoomer culture, by modifying its own Zoomer with chrome bodywork, nitrous oxide injection, extra lights and even a playable Sony PS2 with mini-screen under the seat!

Only 100 Zoomers will initially be available in the UK and they are available direct from Honda’s premier scooter dealers in London: Chelsea Solutions, Motoden and Chiswick Honda or alternatively contact your local Honda dealer.
