SPEEDWAY NEWS AND FIXTURES
30 July 2005 - British Speedway Promoters Association
SIMON Stead has been called into Great Britain''s World Cup team for Sunday''s opener at Swindon - but he is facing a desperate race against time.
That''s because Belle Vue''s Stead, in for the injured Mark Loram, has jetted out to Tenerife for a break! GB boss Neil Middleditch said: ''I called Simon, but it took all day Friday to get him because he was on a beach in Tenerife!'' POOLE have swooped to sign talented Czech Republic youngster Tomas Suchanek on a full transfer from Premier League Isle of Wight. Suchanek will replace Tobias Johansson as the Pirates step up their bid for a third successive title. Co-promoter Matt Ford said: ''Tomas is a quality rider who has already shown us that he has what it takes to go all the way to the top.'' MIKAEL Max is determined to visit Wolverhampton in September - despite suffering from a broken thigh and wrist. Max is in good spirits despite the serious nature of his injuries. He said: ''I''m fine, I''m just trying to get used to things and a new way of life for the time being at least. It will be great to see everyone back at Wolves when I visit.''
