TRIUMPH VALMOTO READY TO RECLAIM DONINGTON PODIUM
23 July 2004 - Triumph ValMoto
The Triumph Valmoto team has headed to Donington Park this weekend for the 2004 Motorcycle News Supersport Cup.
The 23-lap race - which includes some of the world’s best Supersport competitors - is taking place within the British GP’s timetable of events. After finishing on the podium during his last competitive outing at Donington Park for the final round of the 2003 British Supersport Championship, Craig Jones is confident that he can claim a top three place again at the Leicestershire circuit. The talented 19-year-old has been unfortunate to not finish some of this year’s races despite putting in some extremely strong rides. He was running at the front of the field for the majority of the last British championship race at Mallory Park even though he was struggling for tyre grip. Team Manager Jack Valentine is confident that as soon as the tyres are right, the team will have a winning package. He said: We have been struggling for tyre grip all season, so I’m hoping that Pirelli will have some better rubber to challenge with this weekend. “We went really well at Mallory Park and I’m hoping that Craig can show the same focus at Donington - if he does we can get a really good result. ” Craig Jones said: “This is one of the biggest motorsport events of the year and I could possibly be racing in front of 100,000 people, which is really exciting. I’m looking forward to the atmosphere and hoping to get a similar result to last time that I was at Donington.”
