TT 2004: IT’S A RECORD!
22 July 2004 - Duke Marketing Ltd

The TT is undoubtedly the world’s greatest road racing event and, despite recent speculation, shows no signs of decline.

In 2004, one of the largest TT crowds for years witnessed records falling, including the overall lap record that now stands at an average lap speed of 127.68 mph, set by John McGuinness. Sidecar racer David Molyneux blasted his carbon fibre outfit and its intrepid passenger, riding just millimetres above the tarmac, around at a record 113.17 mph. And Maria Costello got her just reward by becoming the fastest woman around the course. “This TT was the best so far…being the fastest woman to John’s fastest man is well cool.” Oh yes, and to top it all, the racing was good and the sun shone!

The official review from powersport specialists Duke, embraces the latest technology to capture extraordinary footage of the bikes as they reach speeds of 190 mph around the 37¾-mile circuit. In order to appreciate the danger faced by riders and the skills required, on-board, heli, roadside and kerb cameras capture the bikes from all angles as they thrash through the normally quiet villages. Combined with footage from the after-race festivities this review provides a comprehensive account of TT 2004.

For the first time the DVD includes an on-board lap, with on-screen data from a practice lap with Richard Britton. The ‘live’ data displays the lean angle, exact speed, braking, acceleration and location of the bike as he contributes a blistering lap. DVD extras also include a lap from an on-board, rider-facing camera with Richard Britton highlighting the sheer strength and work involved in riding at the TT. Other features include a John McGuinness practice diary, Top Ten TT riders, ‘TT Trumps’ and a tribute to David Wood.

The official TT 2004 Review is priced at £19.99 on DVD (220 minutes), £14.99 on VHS (180 minutes) and is available from leading video outlets or direct from Duke Video: Tel 01624 640000
