DE REUVER RARING FOR MAIDEN 2005 OUTING
28 July 2005 - KTM-Sportmotorcycles AG

Factory Red Bull Champ KTM rider Marc de Reuver is set to make his first Motorcycle Grand Prix appearance of the season this weekend.

The Dutchman, who broke three ligaments in his right knee during a pre-season race, has been training and riding relentlessly over the last six weeks and is making his comeback earlier than originally planned.

“I am not sure what to expect. I feel fit, more so than when I came back after the neck injury in 2004, but I am not sure how ‘race fit’ I am, by the time you take into consideration nerves and all that stuff,” he said. “I have been on the bike for nearly two months so I hope to be close to winning speed at least for one moto.”

His practice riding included some time at Neeroeteren, Belgium recently in the company of the Ricci Racing riders and also in France last weekend with Sven Breugelmans and Rui Goncalves.

“My speed was OK but you can’t really compare yourself with guys like that until you get into a race and I have only managed one heat in the whole of 2005,” he said. “It will be good to finally get to a Grand Prix and I just want to do the best I can.”

In other news Kenneth Gundersen is taking part in a national event in Sweden this weekend in one of his first competitive outing since undergoing a second operation on his knee in the spring. The Norwegian will be able to plan his World Championship return depending on the success of the meeting and a provisional date of the German Grand Prix at Gaildorf on August 20th/21st is pencilled in.
