BURNS AND SHAND GO HEAD TO HEAD
27 July 2005 - Aim Racing
Chris Burns and Les Shand will compete at Castle Combes’ Grand National on identical superbikes this weekend.
The non championship race will take place in Wiltshire and AIM Racing is hoping to continue the form demonstrated last year. AIM Racing won both races beating other top BSB teams including HM Plant Honda and Rizla Suzuki. Burns Commented “It will be good to do this event as a lot of the BSB regulars are there, this will help me in getting back into race fitness. The track time we are now getting is brilliant but you can not replace testing with actual racing and like BSB we get two races on the day. I am also looking forward to race against Les and to feed off each other during the event. Testing is well underway and Cadwell was going well until I fell off at the start of the 2nd session. I high-sided coming out of the Gooseneck, I’m a bit sore but will be Okay for this weekend.” Shand “I am delighted to be given this opportunity to race against Chris and other BSB riders. This is the first time I have competed on a full blown superbike on short circuits. I would like to thank Alistair for giving me the chance to race on the AIM Yamaha superbike at this event”. Alistair Flanagan “This event has come at a good time for us, this will give Chris additional track time and for the team to spend more time with Chris to understand his setup requirements. We planned to put Les on a Superbike this year but it did not happen at Croft as we hoped for because of the weather and getting him back from the IOM TT. It will be good to see both AIM Yamaha riders racing at the same time on a short circuit; we are looking forward to the event and hope it’s as big as last year.”
