Suzuki’s GSXR1000-K5 may be the UK’s best selling motorcycle this year, but debate continues to rage over its distinctive exhaust, described by some as the ‘Marmite’ exhaust, because you either love it or hate it.

BOS Exhausts of Holland have developed a lightweight under-seat system for the litre Suzuki, which is designed to directly replace the OE item, giving the tail end an uncluttered racing appearance, similar to the Honda Fireblade and Yamaha R1. Dyno testing shows that the BOS silencer gives a similar power curve to the original, but with a 3.5 bhp power gain at peak revs (11–13,000 rpm).

The silencer is manufactured from titanium and weighs just 3KG, 33% less than the stock item, even though it is E-marked and thus road legal. It is connected to the original down-pipes by a sculpted stainless steel connector pipe, which is polished for maximum effect.

BOS supplies all of the necessary parts to fit the under-seat kit, including a carbon heat shield and replacement number plate hanger. Parts are also supplied for owners who wish to retain the pillion foot rests,
