SPEEDWAY NEWS AND FIXTURES
23 July 2005 - British Speedway Promoters Association
BJARNE Pedersen scored a brilliant paid maximum at Arena-Essex - but was unable to save Poole from their second Purfleet defeat of the season.
Pedersen scored a massive 22 (paid 23), finishing behind team-mate Matej Ferjan when racing as a tactical substitute in Heat 12. Arena won by seven points, however, leaving third-placed Coventry just six points behind Poole with two matches in hand. SOMERSET team manager Mick Bell hailed his new reserves Trevor Harding and Chris Mills after a 16-point win over Stoke. Harding scored paid eight and Mills added five as the Rebels moved into the Premier League''s top ten with a convincing victory at the Oak Tree Arena. Bell said: ''These two boys are going places and with respect to the guys they replaced, they made all the difference.'' MILDENHALL boss Mick Horton was in bullish mood after the Fen Tigers took their first away win of the season at local rivals Boston. Jon Armstrong and Mark Thompson secured a 49-44 win with a last-heat 5-1 after Boston top man David McAllan had fallen. Horton said: ''I am so pleased that we have finally won away and am really proud of the guys tonight.''
