AMERICAN BEAUTY AWARDED ‘BEAST’ OF A MACHINE
17 June 2004 - Kawasaki
Sleek lines, beautiful long curves and a body to die for.
This would perfectly sum up the latest cruiser from Kawasaki, the VN2000, or in another context it could be the description of an attractive young woman – both could be true. How fitting it is then, that the 2004 Playboy ‘Playmate of the Year’ has just taken delivery of the world’s largest displacement V-Twin as one of her many gifts, from KMC (Kawasaki Motors Corporation) in the USA. Carmella DeCesare, a 22-year-old model from Cleveland, Ohio and a business administration graduate took the crown and the cruiser, and it would seem to suit her plans perfectly. Listing overseas travel as her passion, Carmella said: “I’d like to travel overseas and see more of the world. The other day I decided I want to go to Paris! I’ve never been there. The parties, the romance…it all sounds wonderful”. If she does venture into Europe, she will be in the ideal saddle with the Kawasaki VN2000. Built for the open road, it has sold extremely well in the States where the Cruiser market is huge, but along the sweeping roads of rustic UK and France, she can take in and compliment the beauty of the countryside. A yellow belt in hapkido should also ensure that she has the strength to keep it up. The VN2000, with a whopping 2,053 cm³ has been a success story over here too. Since its launch, sales have soared. Kawasaki UK has had to ship more models into the country to keep up with demand as cruiser fans nationwide take to the mighty machine. One dealership from the Midlands, Cradley Kawasaki, sold four in one day. Kawasaki Marketing Manager, Martin Lambert said: “It’s fantastic news. They love their cruisers in the States so I am sure Carmella will get the best out of it. What is encouraging from our point of view is how well it’s been received over here, its sheer power and beauty has made it a winner.” The VN2000 has been turning heads in the UK, as it has in the States. Now, with Carmella on board the colossus of a machine, we could be in for a re-make of ‘Beauty and the Beast’.
