SPEEDWAY NEWS AND FIXTURES
20 July 2005 - British Speedway Promoters Association
WOLVERHAMPTON are facing up to an injury crisis after two of their riders crashed in Sweden.
Mikael Max suffered a broken thigh during his meeting for Luxo Stars - and there are also serious doubts over his brother, Magnus Karlsson, who suffered shoulder damage. Wolves boss Chris Van Straaten said: ''I''m told Mikael''s crash was just one of those things and obviously it''s a very bad injury.'' SOMERSET have made two team changes ahead of their Premier League clash with Stoke on Friday. Chris Mills and Trevor Harding have signed for the club for the rest of the season with Jason King and Lee Smart released. Boss Mick Bell said: ''We have been very loyal to our team this season but the time is now right for us to make changes to try and find some form.'' BRITISH Champion Scott Nicholls will return to the scene of his triumph when he makes a guest appearance for Oxford on Thursday. Nicholls will deputise for the injured Billy Hamill as the Silver Machine face Belle Vue at Cowley - less than a fortnight after he won the title. Oxford boss Nigel Wagstaff said: ''I believe Scotty is the form rider in the league and we''re delighted to have him on board.''
