WOLVERHAMPTON SPEEDWAY
18 July 2005 - British Speedway Promoters Association

Elite League: Wolverhampton 49 Eastbourne 41

MIKAEL Max broke the Monmore Green track record as Wolverhampton secured two vital Elite League points against play-off rivals Eastbourne. Max scorched round in 55.49secs in Heat 1 to lower the mark set by David Norris in May by just over a tenth of a second. The Wolves No.1 had no answer to former Wolves rider Nicki Pedersen though, as the Dane went through the card with six straight wins including a top-class pass of Max in Heat 6. However, Wolves were far more solid throughout the order and David Howe made an excellent return from injury by scoring double figures and clinching the victory with a fine win over Eagles'' guest Joonas Kylmakorpi in Heat 14. Wolves'' quest to move into the top four of the Elite League continues this week with tough away trips to Belle Vue (Weds) and Coventry (Fri), both of whom are currently in the top three.

WOLVES: Mikael Max 12, David Howe 10, Krzysztof Pecyna 8+1, Fredrik Lindgren 7+2, Magnus Karlsson 6+2, Steve Johnston 4+1, Ronnie Correy 2+2.

EASTBOURNE: Nicki Pedersen 18, Joonas Kylmakorpi 10, Adam Shields 6+1, Dean Barker 5+2, Andrew Moore 2, Richard Hall 0, r/r for David Norris.
