WOLVERHAMPTON SPEEDWAY
17 July 2005 - British Speedway Promoters Association

WOLVERHAMPTON know nothing less than a win will do when they face rivals Eastbourne at Monmore on Monday.

The race for the play-offs is hotting up nicely and after a home defeat by neighbours Coventry a fortnight ago voctory is vital against the Eagles. Meetungs between these two sides always provide plenty of entertainment and on Eastbourne''s last Monmore visit in May tempers were raised in the pits. The visitors won on that occasion which is another reason why team boss Peter Adams will be demanding a winning performance. Skipper Steve Johnston is desperate to get the right result, both for the team and himself. He said: ''I''ve been struggling badly lately and I know I have to get it right and, as a team, this is a massive meeting for us.'' Eastbourne include the sport''s most controversial rider, 2003 world champion Nicki Pedersen, who always provides plenty of talking points. They are, however, without top British star David Norris because of a neck injury. In-form Aussie Davey Watt is also out after crashing at the weekend. Coventry''s Jonas Kylmakoorpi makes a guest appearance. Wolves, meanwhile, welcome David Howe back into the side after recovering from a broken ankle. Adam Skornicki is left out.

WOLVERHAMPTON: Mikael Max, Ronnie Correy, David Howe, Steve Johnston, Freddie Lindgren, Magnus Karlsson, Krzysztof Pecyna.

EASTBOURNE: David Norris R/R, Adam Shields, Dean Barker, Jonas Kylmakoorpi, Nicki Pedersen, Richard Hall, Andrew Moore.
