TOWNLEY AND RAMON IN MX1 TOP FOUR

Steve Ramon and Ben Townley placed third and fourth fastest in the MX1 Timed Practice for the Grand Prix of South Africa at Sun City, the eleventh round of seventeen in the 2005 Motocross World Championship.

The Belgian entered the top three in the final minutes of a hot afternoon session and was swiftly followed by his Kiwi team-mate, who has won two from the last three Grand Prix.

The former MX2 World Champions (Townley won both races at Sun City after claiming the 2004 title twelve months ago) trailed Stefan Everts and Josh Coppins on the renovated African soil.

In MX2 David Philippaerts made the most of a poor start on the 250 SXF to capture sixth in the second qualification heat. Earlier in the day Carl Nunn was eighth although is suffering from the effects of a cold.
