DOUBLE PODIUM FOR MATTEO GRATTAROLA IN THE 125 YOUTH CUP.
13 July 2005 - Sherco
He and Loris Gubian continue in second and third place in the provisional standings.
As it turned out the GP of Italy was a very difficult trial for the Sherco Rider Albert Cabestany. He suffered a serious blow to his knee in the fourth section of the first lap today (Sunday) which caused him to loose his form and the result was a ninth place finish for the day. This ninth place finish caused him to loose one place in the provisional standings to Takahisa Fujinami. The good news is that he is only 2 points behind him. On Saturday (the GP of Italy was a two day event) things went better for the Sherco blue team, Albert finished in third place one point behind Fujinami. The heavy rain fall during the two days preceding the event caused the event to be one of the most difficult of the year for the riders. The sections were located near a river and the terrain became very slick and treacherous. The result was another regrouping of the leaders in what has been the closest contested World Championship in recent years. In the 125 Youth Cup, the Italian rider Matteo Grattarola finished second on both days, while Loris Gubian finished fourth and third, maintaining third and second place in the provisional standings. Albert Cabestany: ''In the fourth section of the first lap I fell backwards, and received a strong blow on my leg. The pain grew more intense as the day progressed and it caused me to a lot of damage. I did receive three stitches and it appears that there is no permanent damage to my leg. I lost a place in the provisional standings but with the race so tight this year this is almost normal. I expect to recover positions in the next tests.'' 1st Day Final Classification Points 1 Adam Raga (Gas Gas) 24 2 Takahisa Fujinami (Honda) 33 3 Albert Cabestany (Sherco) 34 4 Doug Lampkin (Montesa) 44 5 Toni Bou (Beta) 50 2nd Day Final Classification Points 1 Takahisa Fujinami (Honda) 33 2 Jeroni Fajardo (Gas Gas) 36 3 Doug Lampkin (Montesa) 37 4 Adam Raga (Gas Gas) 41 9 Albert Cabestany (Sherco) 65 Provisional Classification Points 1 Adam Raga (Gas Gas) 182 2 Takahisa Fujinami (Honda) 165 3 Albert Cabestany (Sherco) 163 4 Doug Lampkin (Montesa) 153 5 Toni Bou (Beta) 125 Date Outdoor 17/04/2005 Portugal (Pampilhosa da Serra) 24/04/2005 Spain (Tarragona) 22/05/2005 Japan (Motegi) 05/06/2005 USA (Duluth) 19/06/2005 Andorra Date Outdoor 26/06/2005 France (Alés) 10/07/2005 Italia (Valblondione) 31/07/2005 England (Hawkstone Park) 11/09/2005 Germany (Gefrees) 18/09/2005 Belgium (Spa-Francorchamps)
