NEW BMW RIDER EQUIPMENT TO COMPLEMENT HP2
13 July 2005 - BMW Motorrad GB

The uncompromising quality of BMW Motorrad’s important new twin-cylinder HP2 enduro machine is soon to be complemented by three equally uncompromising items of riding equipment.

The garments – helmet, jacket and boots – are part of the BMW 2006 Rider Equipment collection and will be available soon after the HP2’s dealership launch on 10 September. In keeping with the HP2’s sporting intent, the new equipment has been designed and manufactured to an exceptional standard. A brief summary of each item’s salient characteristics and features is detailed below.

The Enduro Helmet

The modern even futuristic design and structure of the helmet will offer the highest possible degree of protection. Using a lightweight laminate construction of fibreglass, carbon and KEVLAR® the helmet is exceptionally well reinforced with high tensile strength and excellent crush resistance.

Particular attention has been paid to the Enduro’s aerodynamics. With or without a peak the helmet has outstanding aerodynamic characteristics that minimise noise and reduce buffeting. The Enduro Helmet will be available in three configurations to suit a rider’s personal preference – with peak and visor; without peak and with visor; or with peak and without visor. While a UK price has yet to be announced. The RRP will be £255.

The Protection Jacket

Constructed from elastic net fabric and DuPont Coolmax®, the Protection Jacket is particularly suited to enduro motorsport.

The outstanding damping characteristics of the jacket’s removable protectors – a new BMW development – are the result of stringent testing. The wearer’s body is well protected but allowed complete freedom of movement. This is because the stretch fabric adapts to all body movements and, more importantly, prevents displacement of the protectors in the event of a fall.

BMW Motorrad’s well-proven Back Protector II, which is incorporated into the jacket, gives excellent protection against bruises, abrasions and even fractures. The jacket’s RRP will be £200.

The Rallye GS2 Boot

The successor to the Rallye GS1 boot provides comfort with optimised protection – crucial to concentration and safety when riding a motorcycle on any type of terrain.

The boot’s outstanding features include an anatomically shaped protector, which is worn on the shin and adjustable in width. Straps on the inside and outside of the Rallye GS2 allow ample alteration to suit individual rider preferences. An integrated joint, which is situated in the ankle area of the boot, enhances comfort and ease of use.

A 5mm mid-sole provides the rider with more comfort when standing on the footrests and protects the foot against bruising and twisting. RRP £200.

Accessories

Finally, enduro riders will be pleased to know that during the coming season BMW Motorrad will offer enduro goggles and an enduro shirt as matching accessories.

All items in the BMW 2006 Rider Equipment will be available from February 2006.
