REA WITHDRAWN FROM SNETTERTON
09 July 2005 - Honda Racing

Following an incident during yesterday afternoon’s free practice session, Jonathan Rea has been withdrawn from this weekend’s Bennetts British Superbike Championship event at Snetterton.

The 18-year-old crashed the Red Bull Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade on the entry to Coram Curve, knocking himself unconscious. Rea was taken to the local Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital where he remains under observation.

The Ulster teenager is battered and bruised, and has a slight swelling to the left chest. Although he will not be competing in the two Superbike races at Snetterton, he hopes to be fit enough to watch his Red Bull Honda team-mates in the support races.

Red Bull Honda Team Manager, Havier Beltran: “We are in constant communication with the hospital to keep up to date with Jonathan’s progress, but he will definitely not be racing this weekend as a matter of precaution. It was an unfortunate incident, but these things happen in racing and the most important thing is that Jonathan makes a speedy recovery.”
