LAVERTY IN HIGH SPIRITS
08 July 2005 - Honda Racing
Eugene Laverty is in high spirits ahead of this weekend’s British Supersport Championship event at Snetterton, after securing his best finish of the season at the previous round.
Having finished inside the top six on two separate occasions, the 19-year-old rider was determined to break inside the top five – an aim that he achieved aboard the Red Bull Honda CBR600RR at Knockhill. The result also elevated the talented teenager into the top ten of the series overall. It was a hard-fought and well deserved placing for the Toomebridge rider, but he knows that he must remain focussed for Sunday’s race at the 1.952-mile Norfolk track if he is to equal or even better this result. Eugene Laverty: “I worked really hard for that fifth position, but it was definitely worth it. I have proved that I can do it now, so I have no excuse for not finishing inside the top five more frequently. It is still just as important to concentrate on finishing races and maintaining consistency as well though.”
