SECONDS OUT, ROUND EIGHT
07 July 2005 - Honda Racing
Karl “bomber” Harris has been declared race fit for round eight of the 2005 Bennetts British Superbike Championship this weekend at Snetterton, following a rib injury sustained two rounds ago at Croft.
The 25-year-old boxing enthusiast bravely battled against the odds at Knockhill for two points-scoring finishes, despite suffering from pain and discomfort. The Yorkshireman achieved eighth and 11th places respectively aboard the Dunlop/BLD-backed Honda-Racing.co.uk CBR1000RR Fireblade. Fortunately, Harris has retained sixth position overall in the championship, but he has a lot of ground to make up to close the gap on fifth place. However, the gritty rider is raring to go at Snetterton. He was a strong performer at the 1.952-mile Norfolk track in the Supersport class last year, finishing in second position and securing the new lap record. Karl Harris: “I’m looking forward to Snetterton this weekend and I’m feeling really good. I have been resting a lot since Knockhill, but I trained yesterday and there was no sign of rib pain. The last couple of rounds have been a little unfortunate for me, but I’m hoping to put that right this weekend for my sponsors Dunlop and BLD and for the rest of the team who have worked so hard this season.”
