WOLVERHAMPTON SPEEDWAY
04 July 2005 - British Speedway Promoters Association

WOLVERHAMPTON''S play-off hopes were dealt a blow as they were outclassed 55-38 by rivals Coventry at Monmore Green.

From the moment the Bees took the lead with a 5-1 in Heat 3 from Billy Janniro and Morten Risager the visitors never looked back.

Wolves boss Peter Adams used the tactical ride rule twice to nominate his riders for double points - with mixed results. Mikael Max and Ronnie Correy teamed up for a maximum 8-1 in Heat 10 despite early pressure from Janniro and Risager to get to within five-points of the Bees. But when Freddie Lindgren was nominated for the double in Heat 13 it backfired as he failed to score - and that was the final blow for Wolves. Risager and Martin Smolinski were impressive in brushing aside Krzysztof Pecyna and home skipper Steve Johnston in the penultimate race. And the superb Scott Nicholls had the last word with victory in Heat 15 to complete a memorable night for the visitors. However, questions have been asked about the validity of Jonas Kylmakoorpi as a guest for Rory Schlein in the Coventry side. Kylmakoorpi is not currently in another club''s line-up and referee Chris Durno confirmed there was no paperwork in place to allow the former Peterborough man to race.

WOLVERHAMPTON: Mikael Max 15, Krzysztof Pecyna 7+2, Freddie Lindgren 7, Steve Johnston 3, Adam Skornicki 2+1, Ronnie Correy 2+1, Magnus Karlsson 2.

COVENTRY: Scott Nicholls 17, Jonas Kylmakoorpi 10+1, Chris Harris 9+3, Morten Risager 8+2, Billy Janniro 8+1, Martin Smolsnki 3+2.
