BRITISH SPEEDWAY NEWS AND FIXTURES 18.7.04
18 July 2004 - British Speedway Promoters Association
GREAT Britain boss Neil Middleditch admits his job is impossible when it comes to keeping everyone happy. Middleditch leads his side into action at Wolverhampton on Monday when they face a star-studded Denmark side in test match action.
And he goes into the meeting without selecting newly-crowned British Champion Joe Screen and former world champion Gary Havelock. He has handed a first full cap to Wolves youngster Chris Neath and Coventry''s Stuart Robson will also be looking to impress. Middleditch said: ''I have to pick the team which I feel is best suited to individual situations and I know it''s impossible to keep everyone happy. ''We have a very strong side for Wolverhampton and my Danish counterpart, Jacob Olsen, has also put out a formidable line-up.'' All three of Great Britain''s Grand Prix stars are included - Scott Nicholls, Mark Loram and Lee Richardson. And Denmark also include no less than four members of the GP circuit - Hans Andersen, ex-Wolf Jesper B Jensen, Bjarne Pedersen and current world champion Nicki Pedersen. It has all the makings of an exciting night of international racing at the Black Country track and a bumper crowd is expected for Britain''s last workout before next month''s World Cup tournament. GREAT BRITAIN: Mark Loram, Stuart Robson, Scott Nicholls, Lee Richardson, David Norris, David Howe, Chris Neath. DENMARK: Hans Andersen, Jesper B Jensen, Bjarne Pedersen, Kenneth Bjerre, Nicki Pedersen, Niels Kristian Iversen, Charlie Gjedde. THE draw has been made for the first ever staging of the exciting Premier League Champions Chase at King''s Lynn on July 28. A bumper line-up of 32 top league stars will do battle for the £1,500 top prize in a meeting which provides high pressure racing with riders fighting for survival in every outing. The first round of the competition will be over eight races with only the first three in every race progressing to round two. That means 24 riders remain when only the first two in each race progress, narrowing the field down to 12 for round three. The first and second from this stage go through to the semi-finals with a do-or-die final to decide the winner. LINE-UP: John Jorgensen (Somerset), Danny Bird (Reading), Tomas Topinka (King''s Lynn), Brent Werner (Rye House), Frede Schott (Edinburgh), Magnus Karlsson (Hull), Adam Pietraszko (Berwick), Adam Allott (King''s Lynn - wildcard), Seemond Stephens (Exeter), Jan Staechmann (Stoke), Rory Schlein (Edinburgh), Jason Bunyan (Isle of Wight), Craig Boyce (Isle of Wight), Ricky Ashworth (Sheffield), Jason Lyons (Newcastle), Simon Stead (Workington), Craig Watson (Newport), Claus Kristensen (Berwick), George Stancl (Glasgow), Mark Lemon (Exeter), Tom P Madsen (King''s Lynn), Lubos Tomicek (Newcastle), Carl Stonehewer (Workington), Glenn Cunningham (Somerset), Shane Parker (Glasgow), Matej Zagar (Reading), Andre Compton (Sheffield), Ross Brady (Hull), Pavel Ondrasik (Newport), Chris Neath (Rye House), Andrew Moore (Sheffield - wildcard), Paul Pickering (Stoke).
