TOWNLEY THIRD FASTEST IN SWEDEN

Factory Red Bull KTM rider and winner of the last two successive Grand Prix Ben Townley has recorded the third fastest lap this afternoon at Uddevalla for round ten of seventeen in the MX1 Motocross World Championship; the GP of Sweden.

The track was hard and dusty under warm Swedish sunshine. Townley and team-mate Steve Ramon tried different Michelin tyres throughout the two practice sessions and the New Zealander also altered the gearing on the 450SXF to find a slightly smoother power delivery. Ramon was only a tenth of a second slower than Townley.

In MX2 Carl Nunn placed second in the first qualification heat after setting decent lap-times throughout the two previous chronos. The Briton, who took his first podium of the season last week in France, chased and overtook Kosak KTM’s Max Nagl in the final three laps of the sprint and will now enter the gate third for tomorrow’s GP motos. David Philippaerts was not able to produce a similar display of speed on the second race and a mediocre start meant that the conqueror of St Jean D’Angely could only clinch eighth.
