SPEEDWAY NEWS AND FIXTURES
01 July 2005 - British Speedway Promoters Association

JOE Screen is relishing the prospect of defending his Championship of Great Britain title at Oxford on July 10.

The Belle Vue man faces Grand Prix stars Scott Nicholls and Lee Richardson along with former world champions Mark Loram and Gary Havelock in a strong line-up. He said: ''The British title is something I always try and win. To win your national championship is something every rider should aim for.''

STOKE are aiming for their first double of the season when they face Newport at Loomer Road on Saturday. The Potters have booked Somerset''s Glenn Cunningham as a guest and Newport have replaced Kristian Lund with Lee Dicken. Potters boss Dave Tattum said: ''It''s not going to be easy because Newport have a decent looking team which includes Neil Collins and Tony Atkin who know the Stoke track inside out.''
