MIKAEL Max led Wolves to a hard-fought Elite League victory as Ipswich once again showing their liking for the Monmore Green circuit.
The Swede was beaten by Hans Andersen in his first race but then won his four remaining outings, and on several occasions had to do his work from the back. The big move came in Heat 10, which looked set to be a shared race with an impressive Kim Jansson in the lead. But Max forced his way through a gap on the third and fourth turns, and a surprised Jansson was sent wide to give Ronnie Correy the space he needed to come through into second place. Wolves led by four points going into Heat 15, and again Max came up with the goods, making his way past both Piotr Protasiewicz and Hans Andersen on the first lap after the fast-gating Witches duo had briefly threatened to snatch a draw. It was a mixed bag for most of the other Wolves riders, although Correy in particular was unlucky not to score more as he lost a paid win in his second ride with mechanical failure.
