ANOTHER TOP TEN FOR HARRIS
25 June 2005 - Honda Racing
Karl Harris secured his seventh successive top ten qualifying position at Knockhill for the latest round of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship.
The Honda-Racing.co.uk star will line up on the third row of the grid, but is confident that he can improve on his qualifying performance in tomorrow’s two 30-lap races. The 25-year-old Yorkshireman is still recovering from a rib injury sustained at the last round of the series at Croft three weeks ago. The team has fitted the interior of his leather suit with foam to enable him to manoeuvre his CBR1000RR Fireblade in relative comfort around the 1.3-mile Fife circuit. However, this minor setback will not deter the gritty Sheffield star from completing his mission to reinforce his top six position in the championship standings. As reigning British Supersport Champion, this remains a realistic ambition in his return to the Superbike class on the Dunlop/BLD-backed Fireblade. Karl Harris: “I’ve always gone well here in my Supersport days, so I was hoping for a better qualifying position. I must admit that my injury is causing me some discomfort, but I’m sure that the adrenaline will take me through the races without too much bother. The set-up on the Honda-Racing.co.uk CBR1000RR Fireblade is good, but I could just do with some better luck than I had at Croft.” Qualifying: 1. R. Kiyonari (HM Plant Honda Racing) 0:49.351; 2. M. Rutter (HM Plant Honda Racing) 0:49.499; 3. J. Rea (Red Bull Honda) 0:49.717; 4. J. Reynolds (Suzuki) 0:49.735; 5. D. Thomas (Kawasaki) 0:49.764; 6. L. Haslam (Ducati) 0:49.772; 7. M. Laverty (Honda) 0:49.857; 8. J. Haydon (Suzuki) 0:49.880; 9. K. Harris (Honda-Racing.co.uk) 0:49.894; 10. G. Richards (Kawasaki) 0:49.912
