SPEEDWAY NEWS AND FIXTURES
24 June 2005 - British Speedway Promoters Association
BSPA Chairman Pete Toogood feels that the Ashfield Stadium at Glasgow is an ideal venue for Sunday''s Premier League Pairs.
Ten clubs are represented in the event with the top two riders from each team competing. Toogood said: ''I am very excited about this meeting. The field is wide open, and any time I have been to Ashfield in the past I have always seen plenty of exciting racing.'' EASTBOURNE star David Norris is to take a break from the sport in an attempt to regain full fitness following his head injury. The Eagles will initially use rider replacement and then recall Joonas Kylmakorpi once the Finn''s 28-day ban has expired. A statement said: ''Joonas will not be made available to any other team until such time as David''s return date is known.'' PREMIER League leaders King''s Lynn have recalled Kevin Doolan, now back from injury, and also signed Matthew Wethers who has just left Glasgow. They replace Paul Lee, who is out with a broken arm, and Adam Allott who has been released by the Stars management. Promoter Buster Chapman said: ''I need a more consistent team but we wish Adam well for the future as he has a lot of potential.'' STOKE promoter Dave Tattum is relishing Saturday''s staging of the Corbett Bookmakers Conference Fours at Loomer Road. Tattum''s own club have been forced into a change with Rob Grant replacing an injured Jack Hargeaves, but a very close contest is in prospect. Tattum said: ''The outcome is wide open and I couldn''t possibly predict an outcome. It has all the makings of a first-class meeting.''
