ELITE LEAGUE: SWINDON 48 WOLVES 42
BATTLING Wolves were not far off an incredible result before going down by six points at Swindon for the second time this season. Disaster struck even before the meeting got underway when No.1 Mikael Max was taken ill on arrival at the stadium, and after examination he was declared unfit to race. But Wolves got stuck in, with Adam Skornicki and Magnus Karlsson especially impressive as they did not allow Swindon to pull away. Charlie Gjedde won his fourth race of the night to secure the Robins'' victory in Heat 14 but Skornicki had the final say, depriving the Dane of a maximum by beating both he and Aussie superstar Leigh Adams in the final heat. SWINDON: Charlie Gjedde 14, Lee Richardson 10, Leigh Adams 8+3, Jonas Davidsson 6, Seb Alden 5, Seb Tresarrieu 4, Mads Korneliussen 1. WOLVERHAMPTON: Adam Skornicki 14+1, Magnus Karlsson 10+1, Fredrik Lindgren 9, Steve Johnston 7+3, Krzysztof Pecyna 2, Ronnie Correy 0, r/r for Mikael Max.
