WOLVERHAMPTON SPEEDWAY
22 June 2005 - British Speedway Promoters Association
PARRYS International Wolves travel to Swindon on Thursday still chasing their first away win of the Elite League season.
They were close at the Abbey Stadium earlier in the campaign before going down by six points, one of several frustratingly close away defeats. Skipper Steve Johnston returns to one of his former clubs, having been part of the Swindon line-up last season, and will doubtless be keen to show the Robins fans what they have been missing. Swindon have hit form on their home circuit in recent weeks, topping 50 points against both Coventry and Belle Vue after a string of close calls at Blunsdon, and the Robins anticipate that in-form reserve Seb Alden will be fit despite a crash at Belle Vue on Monday which left him with a bruised hip. Wolves promoter Chris Van Straaten said: ''Swindon is a big, fast track which is not usually our forte, but as ever we''ll be going out there for a win. ''We know it could be a containing exercise but we are aware that we do need an away win to keep up our play-off challenge so we will certainly be going for it.'' Swindon: Leigh Adams, Jonas Davidsson, Seb Tresarrieu, Charlie Gjedde, Lee Richardson, Seb Alden, Mads Korneliussen. Wolves: Mikael Max, Ronnie Correy, Adam Skornicki, Steve Johnston, Freddie Lindgren, Magnus Karlsson, Krzysztof Pecyna.
