NEWCASTLE star James Grieves is looking to make a winning return to Glasgow in Sunday''s Premier League Pairs at Ashfield.

Grieves, who partners Josef Franc in the prestigious event, is one of Glasgow''s top points scorers of all time. Grieves said: ''It is a track that I have been very comfortable on, and I genuinely believe that Newcastle have a great chance.''

IPSWICH will be without Polish rider Karol Baran for Thursday''s vital Elite League clash with Eastbourne at Foxhall. Baran has severe bruising to his shoulder after crashing in his home country over the weekend, and his place will be taken by Kevin Doolan. Witches promoter John Louis said: ''Kevin has handled his Elite League responsibilities well, and this is going to be a crucial week.''

SHEFFIELD have booked Slovenian star Matej Zagar to guest for injured skipper Sean Wilson in Thursday''s Roses clash with Belle Vue at Owlerton. The Elite League high-flyers will be close to full strength for a clash which revives memories of past meetings between the two clubs. Tigers promoter Neil Machin said: ''It''s going to be a mighty task to beat them and we need all the firepower we can get.''

AIDAN Collins will return to the Mildenhall line-up for Saturday''s Conference Fours Championship, which is being staged at Stoke. Collins has been injured since early May but has been named alongside Jon Armstrong, Lee Smart and Andrew Bargh in the Tigers'' line-up. Manager Mick Horton said: ''This was a very hard choice to make due to the new rules, but we feel sure we will be up there challenging.''
