SHERCO 4.5 SUPERMOTARD, RIDDEN BY MIKE VALADE
25 June 2005 - Sherco

The Sherco 4.5i that was designed and released in the Enduro version is being developed into a Supermotard version as well. The bike is currently engaged in the 450cc French Supermotard Championship.

The rider of the bike is none other than Mike Valade who very successfully campaigned the Sherco 50cc Supermotard bike in the 50cc version of the French Championship. At the present time Mike and his bike are in 18th position in the Championship, this position in no way reflects the true potential of Mike or the bike.

In order to transform the bike in to a competitive Supermotard bike the motor and chassis had to be modified. The main work on the motor has been in the exhaust system, it has been modified for the type of competition, and they have made great strides in this area. The next area to work on in the motor is the fuel injection. On the chassis, since the beginning of the season, the primary development efforts have concentrated on the suspensions. The front fork triple trees had to be redesigned in order to provide the correct castor angle for SM racing. Nothing is simple but the progress has been very good and the bike is becoming competitive. Mike recently finished a race in 8th place.

The season is not over and everyone recognizes that for Mike to move into the 450 class on a new bike and do as well as he has is very flattering. This success shows that the combination of Mike Valade and the Sherco 450 SM will be a force to be reckoned with in the future and he will undoubtedly move to the top of the classification.
