SPEEDWAY NEWS AND FIXTURES 18.6.05
18 June 2005 - British Speedway Promoters Association
COVENTRY skipper Andreas Jonsson will quit Elite League racing in the next two weeks due to illness.
Jonsson has been racing on whilst feeling unwell for most of the last month, but now feels he needs to cut down on his schedule. The Swede said: ''I am doing too much and I have not been enjoying my racing. I will ride for Coventry until the end of the month.'' DANNY Bird''s comeback from injury has been postponed by a week after the Reading star confirmed that his leg has not quite healed enough to ride on Monday. The Racers have, however, already re-declared their line-up with Zdenek Simota re-introduced at the expense of Steve Masters. Bird said: ''I''m still not 100% happy with the leg so hopefully the fans can be patient just a little longer.'' GLASGOW star Shane Parker is desperate to win his fitness battle and ride in next Sunday''s Premier League Pairs on his home track. Parker suffered a broken collarbone at Newport last Friday and is now having laser treatment. Parker said: ''It would be a great shame if we were not able to put out our best pairing for this one and I really want to be a part of it.''
