ANOTHER PODIUM FOR ALBERT CABESTANY
21 June 2005 - Sherco
The Sherco riders Matteo Grattarola and Loris Gubian are second and third in the 125 Youth Cup
Without a doubt the 2005 edition of the World Trials Championship is the most tightly contested race in the last decade. The provisional standings after the Andorra event prove this to be the case. The trial of Andorra is habitually a very difficult test for the riders, this years version was no exception. In addition to the difficult classic sections, the organizers added several sections along the river bed that included some tremendous steps. The extreme heat added to the severity of the trial for all of the riders. There was a very large crowd of spectators present to provide encouragement to the riders. The competition is extremely close in the provisional standings after the trial of Andorra with the top four riders separated by two points for the lead. Albert Cabestany found himself in fourth place after the first lap tied with the current provisional leader Doug Lampkin. Albert rode a bit better in the second lap and was able to move up a position. Albert finished the trial in third place and gained another podium finish for Sherco. After 7 events there are 3 riders tied for second place with 109 points 2 points behind the leader Doug Lampkin. Albert Cabestany: ''I did not start well in this trial. I received a five in the first section and that disoriented me a little. The first sections, set in a slippery river bed did little to calm me down. But little by little I started to get my rhythm and was able to obtain a decent result; I am only two points behind the leader and was able to maintain my position in the provisional classification.
