RANSEDER SCORES FOR KTM IN DEBUT GP
17 June 2005 - DORNA COMMUNICATIONS
The Red Bull riders racked-up some impressive results in the weekend’s Catalonian GP
The Red Bull success included the excellent and very noteworthy debut of Austrian rider Michael Ranseder (Red Bull ADAC junior team KTM) who remarkably finished in the points in his first appearance in the MotoGP scene this year. Ranseder – currently the 125cc champion – arrived in Montmeló accompanied by his team-mate Stefan Bradl. After completing some successful practice sessions, the young Austrian started the GP from the sixth row of the starting grid and went on to take 12th position, ahead of Master Aspar rider Sergio Gadea, to earn four points However, not only did Ranseder commence his own points tally on Sunday, it was also the first points scored for Austria in more than a decade. “I had a good start and in the first curve I took the chance to pass various riders. Although the tyres began to fail towards the end, I managed to pass Gadea to snatch 12th position. I really enjoyed the race´, said Ranseder. With Austria going more than a decade without scoring a point, Ranseder has finally laid the uneasy statistic to rest. Before Randeser, the last Austrian to score points in a World Championship GP was Andy Preining in 1994 in the European GP, also in Catalunya.
