BARBERA EAGER TO PROVE HIS WORTH
16 June 2005 - DORNA COMMUNICATIONS

The Fortuna Honda team had a tough weekend in Catalunya, with Jorge Lorenzo injuring his shoulder when he collided with Alex de Angelis, while team-mate Hector Barbera missed a podium finish opportunity after damaging his bike.

Barbera had a great start and soon pushed for top positions, before paying the toll after a hard-fought duel with Aprilia’s Simone Corsi.

“I was running faster than him, I asked him to let me through so I could keep on pushing. Then he started to have problems, he was braking and lapping slower than when he was behind me, I couldn’t understand that,” explained Barbera.

“Corsi hit me on the side and damaged the air intake. In some parts of the track, I couldn’t open the throttle and one of the cylinders had problems. I couldn’t do anything about it and lost more and more time.”

“It’s a shame because I could have fought for the podium, but anyway, I’m happy as I proved that I can ride at the front and I’m looking forward to the next races, I want to confirm that I’m improving.”
