THE CHAMPIONS’ CONSISTENCY RULES IN 250
16 June 2005 - DORNA COMMUNICATIONS
Pedrosa and Dovizioso manage to score points in every race
After the Gran Premi Gauloises de Catalunya, the sixth round of the season, it’s noteworthy that only Dani Pedrosa and Andrea Dovizioso – two reigning Champions, the first in the 250cc class and the second in the 125cc – have managed to score points in every race held so far this year in the quarter litre class. Before last weekend’s race, Fortuna Honda riders Jorge Lorenzo and Hector Barbera also displayed an impressive consistency for 250cc rookies. However, both suffered incidents that ended their good run: Lorenzo collided with Alex de Angelis midway through the race and Barbera finished out of the points after damaging the air intake of his bike. Meanwhile, Pedrosa completed the first hat-trick of his career and built-up a 27 points advantage over Casey Stoner, in second place. The Aussie moved up three points ahead of Andrea Dovizioso, who raced through the pain barrier after suffering a heavy crash on Saturday to clinch his fourth podium finish of the year. The battle for second between the Australian and the Italian should be intense, as both riders will also try to cut the gap behind the series leader.
