BAD WEATHER CUTS SHORT CATALUNYA TEST
14 June 2005 - DORNA COMMUNICATIONS

After contesting the Gran Premi Gauloises de Catalunya this weekend, several MotoGP teams stayed on at the circuit for an extra day of testing on Monday

Unfortunately, intermittent rain ruined track conditions and forced the teams to modify their test schedule.

The Camel Honda and Movistar Honda riders decided to leave soon after noon without a single lap under their belts, while the Gauloises Yamaha team only worked early this morning before the rain hit the track. Valentino Rossi was the first on the track and spent about half an hour evaluating new engine parts before the weather turned. In these conditions, the tyre tests planned by Michelin had to be rain-checked.

Recently appointed as the new test rider of the Kawasaki Racing Team, Olivier Jacque rode alongside Shinya Nakano and Alex Hofmann. The Frenchman walked unscathed from a minor crash in the afternoon. Elsewhere, Konica Minolta Honda’s Makoto Tamada only left his box in the afternoon to clock a handful of laps.

The Ducati Marlboro riders Loris Capirossi and Carlos Checa also delayed the beginning of their test, and were the only racers to ride consistently in the afternoon, alongside Roberto Rolfo (D’Antin Pramac), Nicky Hayden (Repsol Honda), James Ellison and Franco Battaini (Blata WCM) and the Kawasaki squad.

Nicky Hayden 54 laps 1’43.6
Valentino Rossi 17 1’44.1
Max Biaggi 12 1’45.0
David Checa 34 1’45.1
Rubén Xaus 20 1’45.4

Olivier Jacque 36 laps
Carlos Checa 32 laps
Loris Capirossi 23 laps
Makoto Tamada 14 laps
