HARRIS UNLUCKY AT CROFT

Round six of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship at Croft today proved to be unlucky for Honda-Racing.co.uk’s Karl Harris. Despite looking strong all weekend, the 25-year-old failed to finish both 22-lap races at the 2.172-mile North Yorkshire circuit.

Yorkshireman Harris was unable to start the first race in his home county due to electrical problems with the Dunlop/BLD-backed CBR1000RR Fireblade. Unfortunately, his spare bike was being used by Ian Lougher at the Isle of Man TT, which left Harris watching the first leg of the event from the garage.

However, with the problem corrected for race two, the Sheffield rider took his place on the grid. Further misfortune struck though as Harris ended up in the gravel at Tower Bend on the opening lap of the race, which was subsequently red flagged due to rain. Although uninjured, he was unable to enter the restarted wet race as he was not circulating on lap eight, which determined the revised grid positions.

Karl Harris: “Obviously, this has not been a good event for the Honda-Racing.co.uk team or for me. I’ll just have to pick myself up and focus on getting back on track at the next round at Knockhill and amassing some vital championship points.”
